#11 Night Shift

14_Night Shift_AUG22.png

We live our lives in the natural rhythm of day and night.

Daytime for activity: work, family, caring, feeding, travelling.

Night-time for rest, sleep and restoration.

The God of all creation even rested.

On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation,

so he rested from all his work. Genesis 2:2 (NLT)

It’s a fundamental need of every living thing.

And yet, whilst we need our eight hours, God never stops blessing, nurturing and healing us.

And the night time is a good time: when we are passive

and less resistant, we are free from distractions andreceptive to the work of the Holy Spirit, eventhough we are not aware of it.

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me.

Psalm 42:8 (NIV UK)

Try this.

End the day with prayer.

Invite the Holy Spirit to work - to nuture, enrich and strengthen your physical, emotional and spiritual life as you sleep.

“Jesus, as this day comes to a close,

I welcome you to inspire and enlighten me while I sleep.

Fill these hours of rest with the wisdom, insight

and understanding that only your unfailing love can provide.

Bless my mind, spirit and body as I sleep so that when I wake up I am already prepared for all that tomorrow brings.”

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me.

Psalm 42:8 (NIV)
