Do you ever find yourself thinking that things are piling up and
overwhelming you?
The house you live in or the house you’d love to own.
The job you love or the job you hate or the job you need.
The health and wellbeing of your parents or your friends, or yourself.
The sustainability of the planet and what difference can I make anyway?
Political instability, social unrest, a pandemic, the economy, abuse of power.
It all piles up and can make us feel vulnerable and anxious.
Try this.
Say to yourself NOTHING overwhelms Jesus.
Jesus calls all things into perfect order.
Nothing is outside of his control.
Jesus is above all. Say it as fact.
“Lord God, nothing is above you.
Nothing overwhelms you. Even though it is hard to see sometimes, I trust in your authority over all things: all leaders and governments, all conflict, all famine, all pollution, all climate change, all modern-day slavery, all racism, all disease. I trust in your perfect order and claim it in the power of your name. Amen.”
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.
