#5 Walk on Water
Matthew 14:28-30
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Try this:
Imagine you are Peter.
You step out of the boat. But instead of the choppy waves below you, you see your circumstances - all the complexity of life - that could easily drown you.
Be certain that Jesus is right there. Eyes on you.
Just like he was for Peter.
So look up. Keep your eyes on him.
You are walking on water.
If you start to sink, call out “Lord, save me!”
Jesus is right there.
Just as he was for Peter. He will rescue you.
Stay focused on Jesus.
In his presence, rise above your circumstances.
And he will quiet the storm.
“Jesus, I step into the day knowing you are there ahead of me. The complexity of my circumstances swirls below me, but I will keep my eyes on you. Your hand is outstretched towards mine and I know you will rescue me if I start to sink. I will walk on water with you through this day with certainty and hope. Thank you.”
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91:1-2
